Professor Philip J Schneider, MS, FASHP, FASPEN, FFIP

Professor at The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy, USA

International Advisory Board Chair, Alliance for Safe Biologic Medicines, USA

Professor Philip J Schneider is founder and principal of MediHealthInsight that provides consultation to the industry and others on matters related to improving the use of medicines including the application of new technologies in healthcare. 

 

He is also Chair, Alliance for Safe Biologic Medicines (ASBM) International Advisory Board. ASBM serves as an authoritative resource centre of information for the public, and the healthcare and health policy communities on the issues related to biological medications. They provide information on the safety and quality of biologicals and seek solutions that ensure that the affordability of and accessibility to biological medications does not compromise patient safety.

 

Professor Schneider holds a faculty appointment as Professor at The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy.

 

He is a past president of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) and member of the ASHP Visiting Leaders Program faculty.  He is also a past president of the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN), having served for ten years as the first Editor-in-Chief of Nutrition in Clinical Practice, one of its two official publications. He served two four-year terms as Vice President of the International Pharmaceutical Federation having served as Chair of the Board of Pharmacy Practice and chair of the Congress Planning Committee.

 

Prior to these positions, for 10 years he was Professor and Associate Dean for Academic and Professional Affairs for the University of Arizona, College of Pharmacy at the Phoenix Biomedical Campus.  In this position, he was responsible for the launch and growth of the College of Pharmacy programmes at the new Biomedical Campus in Phoenix. He also held faculty appointments at the University of Arizona Colleges of Medicine and Public Health.

 

Before that, for 33 years he held positions at the Ohio State University including most recently Professor and Founding Director of the Latiolais Leadership Program at the College of Pharmacy, The Ohio State University.

 

He has received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Ohio State University College of Pharmacy, the Joseph A Oddis Award for exceptional service to the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP), the Donald E Francke Medal for significant international contributions to hospital pharmacy, the Harvey AK Whitney Lecture Award that recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to health-system pharmacy, and the Stanley Serlick Award that recognizes a pharmacist who has made significant contributions to improving safe practices for parenteral nutrition.
